If you are looking forward to a peaceful relaxing vacation Camp Custer is the place for you.  Located close to all the main attractions yet away from all the hustle and bustle of town.  Camp Custer is situated 7 miles NW of Custer or 5 miles W of Crazy Horse Monument in the Black Hills National Forest.  Privately owned on 5 beautiful acres.

Across the road on forest service land is a large pond that adults as well as children really enjoy!

Camp Custer Log Cabins are the former quarters for the officers of Camp Custer.  Camp Custer was a CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) camp that housed hundreds of young men during The Great Depression of the 1930’s. For 8 years it served as the home of the US Army officers. One can walk across the road and see the foundations of the buildings that were once part of Camp Custer. 

In all of South Dakota these two ponderosa pine cabins are the only officers quarters that remain of the CCC camps.  There are two other buildings that were once part of these camps. One is at wind Cave and the other is on the fairgrounds at Huron. One of the cabins (Pine Crest) in which you will be staying is in the National Register of Historic Sites. The other (Sky View) is not registered due to a recent addition.

Stage Coach Stop vacation home is not part of but is managed by Camp Custer Log Cabins and offers the same Old West themed vacation retreat. Located at the West end of Custer, one mile North of Hwy 16. Situated on four acres of beautiful, privately owned land and surrounded by the beautiful Black Hills National Forest and rock outcroppings, yet close to all major attractions.

Vacationers can hike up through the rocks and trees by this beautiful Black Hills property and see a magnificent view of Crazy Horse Monument.
